Take time out today to remember and honor. Americans began to recognize Memorial Day in 1868, and the country established it as a federal holiday in 1971. Originally known as “Decoration Day,” the holiday started with communities coming together to decorate the graves of those who died during service.

For the past 4 years, Mr. Johnson has spoiled the faculty and staff by making grits on Fridays! Therefore, it was only fitting that during our Kindergarten Awards ceremony, we gave Mr. Johnson a special award too! We are so excited for his new adventure at the high school as assistant principal.

New for 2026-2027: LCSS Existing Student Annual Update (Action Required)
We are moving our paperwork online! This new digital process replaces the paper forms traditionally sent home, ensuring LCSS has the most accurate contact and health information for your child.

Why you should do it now:
If not completed by July 15, your child will face the following delays:
Elementary: No homeroom assignment postcard in the mail.
Middle/High School: No early access to schedules (even at Open House).
Parents: You may be locked out of certain parts of the Parent Portal.

Dr. Robyn Stewart from 4H spoke to our 3rd grade students during Stewardship Week, which is an annual celebration focusing on the conservation of natural resources. While not exclusively a 4-H event, it is heavily supported by 4-H, conservation districts, and agricultural partners to promote education about soil, water, and wildlife.
