Take time out today to remember and honor. Americans began to recognize Memorial Day in 1868, and the country established it as a federal holiday in 1971. Originally known as “Decoration Day,” the holiday started with communities coming together to decorate the graves of those who died during service.

For the past 4 years, Mr. Johnson has spoiled the faculty and staff by making grits on Fridays! Therefore, it was only fitting that during our Kindergarten Awards ceremony, we gave Mr. Johnson a special award too! We are so excited for his new adventure at the high school as assistant principal.

Congratulations to Ahja Simmons and Charlie Mae Moon for being the only fifth graders to earn their recorder karate black belts! Way to go, girls!
